1. Relaxation using breathing exercises (16:29)

Please listen to the breathing techniques below. This technique quickly reduces the tension in your body, quietens your mind and gets rid of the unpleasant physical sensations so that you feel back in control.

Changing how you breathe can transform how you feel. The importance of your breathing in managing anxiety and stress cannot be overemphasised. It is the most important change that you could make to improve how you feel.

You will become calmer, more in control and able to cope. When you feel calm you can think more realistically, without the feeling of overwhelm. You will feel more relaxed and have a clearer perspective on your situation. Using these breathing techniques, you will be able to manage panic attacks and reduce the likelihood of having one.

2. Deep relaxation through visualisation (10:32)

The visualisation exercise is for deeper relaxation, helping your body to feel extremely calm, heavy and deeply relaxed. This technique can induce sleepiness so is to be used with caution and when appropriate.
