I helped many clients with anxiety and stress over the years and several of them suggested that I write a book, so this book is for them, with respect and gratitude.

Fast Fixes for Anxiety and Stress is a short, easy to read book aimed at busy people who want fast results. It offers simple, effective and lasting ways to feel better quickly.

The book includes easy relaxation exercises and coping strategies for managing anxiety and stress.

It looks at ways to feel more in control so we can manage situations without feeling overwhelmed.

It demonstrates how making changes to our thinking and behaviour can reduce our stress levels in any situation, so that we feel more confident to deal with the challenges we face every day. Small changes in how we think can bring big benefits.

The techniques and strategies in this book will help you to:

  • Understand and recognise what is happening in your body when you are anxious or stressed;
  • listen to your body and reduce the unpleasant symptoms of anxiety and stress;
  • manage panic attacks so you feel back in control;
  • change how you think and feel; fast and effectively;
  • feel calmer and more relaxed, think more clearly and function better;
  • make lasting changes which will help you feel more in control and able to manage challenging or stressful situations;
  • develop new positive habits which will help you feel more confident in your ability to cope effectively;
  • learn new ways of thinking, behaving and responding which will make you more resilient to stress;
  • improve relationships with family, friends and colleagues;
  • improve your health, sleep and sex life;
  • enjoy a better quality of life with greater levels of enjoyment, happiness and fulfilment.

The book has five sections so you can dip into it as and when you feel the need.

The first section should be read first as it offers really fast fixes for anxiety and stress. It deals with the physical changes which occur in our body when we feel overwhelmed. It focuses on techniques which can actively change how you feel physically and mentally and help you feel back in control.

The second section focuses on understanding the impact and power of our thinking on our anxiety and stress levels. It looks at the benefits gained by making changes to our thoughts and responses. By making some changes we can feel more in control and will manage stressful situations more effectively. Once learnt, these strategies can be another fast fix for anxiety and stress. This section also looks at less helpful habits, ways of thinking and behaving.

The third section finds ways to reduce the demands we make on ourselves as well as those that others make upon us. Finding ways to reduce demands is another fast fix for anxiety and stress. This section also covers making changes to expectations, our own and those of others.

The fourth section shows how using effective ways of behaving will help us to feel more in control and become more resilient to anxiety and stress. Developing these habits can improve our quality of life and levels of enjoyment, fulfilment and wellbeing.

The fifth section looks at the facts about anxiety and stress and their impact upon us. This information is useful as it increases awareness of the negative effects of anxiety and stress, but it has been left until the last section in the book as my priority is to help the anxious and stressed reader feel better as quickly as possible.

Finally, I offer some tips for maintaining a less stressful and more balanced life. After all, this life really is the only one we have and it’s worth living to its full potential.
